A limited artist edition translating Louis Venturelli's museum-inspired color fields into handmade rugs for the floor, the wall, and the rooms that gather around them.
MAJLIS Editions x Louis Venturelli
A natural movement from painting into textile.
MAJLIS has followed Louis Venturelli's work for four years. His paintings hold the memory of museums, travel, color, and architectural proportion; our collaboration brings that language into a textural experience, expanding paint into fibre without treating the rug as a reproduction.

The collection
Color fields made to be inhabited.
Each work is made to order as an edition of 50. All rugs can be made in sizes 8' x 10' and larger, in New Zealand wool or high-performance ECONYL®, and can be presented on the floor or on the wall.

Work 01
Ochre Field
A tonal ochre composition becomes a dense, atmospheric surface. The lower field remains quiet and exact, giving the rug a measured architectural weight.
The color is standardized to preserve the painting's close values while allowing the pile to bring light and shadow into the surface.
Edition50 made-to-order pieces.
MaterialsNew Zealand wool or high-performance ECONYL®.
Wall placement and textile detail.
Work 02
Green Register
Bright green holds a deeper field, with a dark lower rectangle anchoring the composition. As a rug, the painting becomes a study in threshold, depth, and density.
The design can sit on the floor as a field of color or be mounted vertically as a textile object.
Edition50 made-to-order pieces.
Scale8' x 10' and larger, with custom sizes available for designers.
Interior setting and textile detail.
Work 03
Blue Yellow Measure
A saturated yellow rectangle sits within blue fields, carrying the directness of the painting into a larger material scale.
The strong chromatic relationship is held as the central subject; the rug does not add motif, border decoration, or new marks.
Edition50 made-to-order pieces.
ColorStandardized to respect the painting's original palette.
Interior setting and textile detail.
Work 04
Rose Plane
Rose and mauve tones stay deliberately close. The piece depends on restraint: a field, a border, and a lower plane that changes with light.
In fibre, the quiet shifts become tactile rather than graphic.

Work 05
Rust Field
Rust, burnt orange, and a deeper lower plane create a warmer register within the group. The rug keeps the painted hierarchy intact.
The result is color as architecture: a surface that changes the room without becoming decorative pattern.
Edition50 made-to-order pieces.
ScaleStandard scales begin at 8' x 10'.

Work 06
Metallic Register
A deep green field is interrupted by a metallic horizontal register. In ECONYL®, the metallic material option gives the band a reflective fibre quality while the dark fields remain grounded.
The composition is intentionally spare; the material shift carries the change.
Edition50 made-to-order pieces.
Material noteMetallic ECONYL® can be developed for the highlighted register.
Studio languageLouis's work begins with museums and the way color, space, and memory settle after looking. MAJLIS brings that sensibility into a handmade process, where surface and structure become part of the experience.
