What to know
What is Common Ground?
A majlis is the room where people gather and sit together. Common Ground starts from the same idea: the floor is the one surface everyone in a room shares. Every rug ordered before January 1, 2027 is hand-loomed in India and shipped to the United States in the same container, so each one is made at its best price.
How does the pre-order work?
Choose a rug, a colorway, a size and a material, then pay at checkout with your email and shipping address. Your MAJLIS account is created for you, so you can follow your order. When the window closes, the rugs are made and shipped together, and we email you at each step.
What is the deadline?
Pre-orders close on January 1, 2027, or earlier if a series reaches its allocation.
When will my rug arrive?
Delivery is expected in early summer 2027, after the container is made and shipped. Delivery dates are estimates, and we email you as your rug is made and shipped.
How much is the deposit?
A 50% deposit, including 50% of any sales tax, is paid securely through Square at checkout. The remaining 50% is due when the pre-order window closes on January 1, 2027. We will send payment instructions; the balance is not charged automatically.
Can I cancel?
Yes. Pre-order deposits are fully refundable through 11:59 pm Eastern time on December 20, 2026, by replying to your receipt or writing to hello@majliseditions.com. After that date every pre-order is final sale, including orders placed between then and January 1, 2027.
What if my colorway does not reach production?
Each colorway is dyed in a single lot with a minimum quantity. If yours does not reach it when the window closes, we will contact you to choose another colorway in the same series and material, or a full refund.
Why does each series have its own allocation?
The run is planned around filling shipping containers. We are opening enough rugs for 2 containers and dividing them by what we expect clients to choose, so more single-color Intense rugs are planned than two-color Thick rugs.
What sizes and materials are offered?
Three rectangular sizes: 6 x 9, 8 x 10 and 9 x 12 ft. Each rug is made in New Zealand wool or in high-performance ECONYL® regenerated nylon, with a 14 mm pile, a dense height that suits any room.
Where are the rugs made?
Every rug is designed and authenticated in New York and hand-loomed in India by skilled craftspeople in safe workplaces. Delivery dates are estimates, and we email you as your rug is made and shipped.
Where do you ship?
Shipping is free within the continental United States. For Alaska, Hawaii or elsewhere, please contact us.
Do trade discounts apply?
No. Pre-order prices are already set at the lowest price we offer, so trade and other discounts do not apply to pre-orders. Registered trade clients keep their trade pricing on custom and bespoke work.
Can I order a custom size or color?
Yes. Custom requests are encouraged and are quoted after a conversation with the MAJLIS team.
