What ECONYL® is
ECONYL® is a regenerated nylon made from 100% waste, including discarded fishing nets, fabric scraps, carpet flooring, and industrial plastic. Regenerating nylon this way lowers its global-warming impact by up to 90% compared with nylon made from oil, and a minimum of 50% of the raw material is certified post-consumer waste.
Because the yarn is fully documented through an Environmental Product Declaration, a Cradle to Cradle assessment, and REACH optimization, it gives specifiers a clear, verifiable basis for a project's sustainability goals.
Where MAJLIS rugs can contribute to LEED v4
Rugs made with ECONYL® can support credits across four LEED v4 categories. Credits are awarded to a project as a whole, so the exact contribution depends on your design and documentation, but the material gives your team a strong, low-impact specification to build on.
Materials and Resources
Supports building life-cycle impact reduction and building product disclosure and optimization, backed by ECONYL®'s Environmental Product Declaration, recycled-content sourcing with a minimum of 50% certified post-consumer waste, and material-ingredient reporting through Cradle to Cradle and REACH.
Indoor Environmental Quality
Supports low-emitting materials, backed by General Emissions Evaluation results that confirm low VOC levels.
Integrative Process
Supports early, collaborative decisions on sustainable materials, with our team sharing documentation to help your project target the right credits.
Innovation
Recognizes advancing the circular economy through nylon regeneration and eco-design, going beyond conventional recycling.
Documentation for specifiers
The full ECONYL® and LEED v4 contribution matrix, prepared by Aquafil, sets out each credit the yarn can support and the evidence behind it.
